Ramadhan Sunnah - Be (Extra) Generous

Ibn Abbas narrated that the Prophet (pbuh) was the most generous amongst the people, and he used to be more so in the month of Ramadan

[Bukhari]

Imagine that even though the Prophet (pbuh) was known to be the most generous person, during Ramadan he was even more noticeably so. So we should not be content that we are simply ‘good’ or nice or giving outside of Ramadan- but we should push ourselves to increase that during this holy month.

First and foremost, let us be generous with our money. This is all the more urgent considering the catastrophe in Pakistan, as well as in other places including our local communities.

If we give charity every night, and one of those nights turns out to be Laylat al-Qadr (the Night of Power), which is a night better than 1000 months (Qur’an 97:1-5), the reward for that piece of charity will be the reward for doing it for 1000 months! SubhanAllah

But moreover, let us remember that generosity is not simply to do with money. It is any good deed, especially those that concern helping others, so let us go out of our way this month to be generous with our actions too.
