Five Ways To Disobey Allah
Ibn Qudamah Al-Maqdisi mentions a conversation between a young lad and the great scholar Ibrahim Bin Adham in his book Kitab At-Tawwabeen, Page 285.
Young boy: O Abu Ishaq, I am wronging my soul, advise me with something that’ll hold me back from disobeying Allah and breathe new life into my heart.
Ibrahim Bin Adam: Alright. If you take five things from me and fulfill them, you can disobey Allah the Almighty all you want and no harm will come to you.
Young boy: (Interested) Ok, tell me.
Ibrahim Bin Adam: One, if you want to do other than what Allah wants you to do, then do not eat the food that He provides you.
Young boy: Then where am I supposed to eat from when all the food on earth is from Allah?
Ibrahim Bin Adam: Dear lad, is it right that you eat the food Allah the Almighty has given you and then go off and disobey Him?
Young boy: No it is not right. What is the second?
Ibrahim Bin Adam: Two, if you want to live life to the fullest in disobedience of Allah, then don’t live on His land.
Young boy: That’s harder than the first. Where shall I live when all that is in the east and west the belongs to Him?
Ibrahim Bin Adam: Dear boy, is it right that you eat His food and live in His land, yet still insist on turning your back when He calls you?
Young boy: No it’s not right. What’s the third?
Ibrahim Bin Adam: If you want to disobey Allah, yet still eating the food He gave you and still living in His land, then find a place where He can’t see you.
Young boy: O Abu Ishaq, how can that be so when Allah is the All-Seeing and All-Knowing of all that happens, even what the heart whispers?
Ibrahim Bin Adam: Dear boy, is it right that you eat His food and live in His land and disobey Him while He watches you and what you are exposing?
Young boy: No it’s not right. What’s the fourth?
Ibrahim Bin Adam: When the angel of death comes to snatch your soul, tell him to grant you a day so that you can sincerely ask Allah for forgiveness and change your life.
Young boy: He won’t grant me that.
Ibrahim Bin Adam: Dear boy, if you find yourself helpless to put off death for just one day and you know that it cannot be delayed by your wishes, how do you expect to win?
Young boy: (With a sigh) What is the fifth?
Ibrahim Bin Adam: When the gatekeepers of Hell will come to drag you away on your face to Hellfire refuse to go with them.
Young boy: Nothing will stop them.
Ibrahim Bin Adam: How do you expect to be saved then?
Young boy: Enough, Abu Ishaq. (And he lowers his head crying). O Allah, forgive me for my transgression.
Epilogue: Young boy went on to become a student of Ibrahim Bin Adham. He repented to Allah sincerely and lived an upright life with his teacher until death parted the two.

Sunnah : Start with bismillah
The Prophet (pbuh) said: “Any matter of importance which is not begun
with ‘bismillah’ [in the name of Allah], remains defective” [Ibn Hibban]
—Whenever we begin anything, whether eating, drinking, writing an essay or anything else, should begin with “bismillah”. This ensures that we maintain Allah’s blessing on the action, inshAllah.

Who is Muhammad Conference, 18/11/10
Salam brothers and sisters :)
Alhamdullilah, a few Bruneians brothers and sisters had the rezeki to attend the talk on Thursday. MasyaAllah, all of the speakers talked beautifully and indeed, had a very inspiring effect on me. I know that a lot of the members actually wanted to come but could not make it but insyaAllah in the consecutive paragraphs i will aim to summarise the main points discussed in the conference.
The first talk was made by Myriam Francois Cerrah (University of Oxford) who gave us an insight to the correlation between human legal rights and moral laws. The emphasis was placed upon the need to retain our self-discipline in the strive to a better justice legal system. "Allah does not change the condition of a people unless they change what is in themselves." (13:11) Our moral responsibility and the consequent divine origin of it will drive us to become better muslims, setting good examples and become ambassadors of muslim youths. If we are to think about moral laws as just legal laws, it would have no such effect on the justice we so believe to be fair. For example, the speaker talks about the current slave trade (sex slaves in Europe and India more specifically) that we perceived to have been "banned" legally and thus ended with the introduction of such legislation. But what we do not realise is that its ideology continues to be upheld and prominent in colonial countries. "Slavery is not just a system but a mindset" and up to this day remains a manifested system despite the world ban and punishment. So how do we utilise the legal system to maintain justice if a majority of the people fail to change their mentality and morality? The speaker emphasises on the perfecting of the soul, first and foremost, to successfully render a society coherent with justice. "An amelioration of one's ethics and self-control' should form the basis for the successful application of justice in the wider outer realm. And who shall we take examples of these characters from? To answer your question is look at the title ;)
The second speaker, Kristiane Backer (author of the book "From MTV to Mecca") discussed about issues from an environmental, animal rights perspective. She gave much evidence from the Quran and Hadith entailing the importance of human beings to see themselves as only ONE among other of Allah's creations. This is not our world, we just live in it. "God is the all encompassing." But we are created by Allah with a higher capacity to think for ourselves, to suppress or encourage actions based on our will, because of that, we have the moral responsibility to protect all creations. it is said that every creature, every plant, every animal is always in constant zikir to glorify Allah, the almighty Creator. but when you destroy even the tiniest of creature, how would you face Allah knowing that you stopped a creature from doing zikir? the Prophet s.a.w. said that "the earth was created for me as a mosque". Our earth is a place for worship so why destroy what Allah made for us?
The third speaker was a substitute for the original planned speaker but made an inspiring talk on how to deal with the perceived "oppression" of muslims in today's society. He maintained that we need to stop recognising ourselves as victims of oppression but actively seek to improve our conditions by truly embracing Islam as a way of life, as our deen. By internalising Islamic virtues, we can not only be able to remove ourselves from the conception of contemporary victimisation but also, strenghten our perseverance, sabar in facing these challenges. "If Allah loves a person, He faces them with challenges." But one must not assume that by "fighting" oppression one must turn to violence. On the contrary, Islam does not condone violence of any kind as a solution. The answer lies within the notion of "fighting oppression with compassion". Prophet Muhammad s.a.w. is a prime example of this conception. His perseverance in overcoming obstacles of verbal and physical abuse clearly shows what all muslims should internalise.
I hope this short summary of all the different talks will help to guide us to becoming better Muslims. InsyaAllah. May Allah guide us to the straight path and have mercy upon us on the Day of Judgement. Amin
Salam!
Kind Regards, Dina.

Hikmah Ibadah Korban 2!
Tidakkah mereka membaca Al-Qur’an? Firman Allah s.w.t:
Firman Allah s.w.t:
"Salam sejahtera kepada Nabi Ibrahim!. Demikianlah Kami membalas orang-orang Yang berusaha mengerjakan kebaikan. Sesungguhnya Nabi Ibrahim itu dari hamba-hamba Kami Yang beriman.."

Hikmah Ibadah Korban!

- Selalu menambah perbuatan baik.
- Berdo'a, menyadari bahwa kita membutuhkan Allah.
wallahua'lam.

Combatin negative thinking!
This post was kindly written by Dynamic Muslimah. Jazak Allah.
To be a productive, dynamic muslim,it is extremely important that we inculcate a mindset of positivity. A mindset of positivity leads to proactivity and eventually leads to creating a productive life. If the mindset of positivity is missing, and we are negative and self loathing, and have no hope, do you ever think we would have the enthusiasm to do things and be productive?
I decided to write on negative self-talk, since many people complain that they have started being organized etc, only to fail in following through. And some people say that they start of with being so productive, only to get down and out again. The root of this problem is negative self talk.If you're like most people, you engage in negative self talk quiet a bit. Infact, it happens a whole lot more than you realize. Negative talk puts limitations on your life, it drains your energy and instead of wanting to feel productive, you give up feeling despondent.
One of the greatest secrets to being a productive person is letting go your negative self-talk and switching to positivity. Behind that door of negativity, there is a brighter, happier, productive life waiting for you.
Where does the negative thinking come from?
First and foremost negative talk comes from shaytaan. He is your enemy, and you may not believe it, but shaytaan makes you procrastinate and detours you from your mission. He stalls you, puts you off from your mission, and makes you find reasons of why you can't do a certain task and finds every way to sabotage you.
Secondly being in judging mode all the time is where negative talks stem from. We are always judging ourselves, others, those we know personally and those we don't. We judge everyone from Barack Obama(is he doing a good job?), to a brothers haircut (he thinks he looks cool) and a sisters outfit (she so doesnt look good). And in turn we continuously judge and criticise ourselves(I'm not good enough, I'll never succeed, I hate my life). It eventually becomes an unconscious habit we dont realize we are doing.
Enough is enough
There are wonderful things you want to do with your life, but the negativeness in your mind is deeply rooted in to you and holding you back. The good news is you have the power to switch to a positive mindset! And it is possible and not difficult!
1)Make Dua
Ask Allah to protect you from shaytaan. The Prophet (s.a.w) frequently made the following supplication: "Oh Allah, I seek your protection from, alajz" – which means the inability to do something. And when someone said, "I can’t do that," The Prophet(s.a.w) would seek protection from such negative speech by adding: "and I seek your protection (Oh Allah) from alkasl"- which is translated as laziness.
2) Have a soft compassionate approach.
We need to develop and cultivate a mindset of compassion, which encourages us and motivates us to do more. Have compassion on ourselves instead of continuously criticising and harshly judging ourselves and others. Take note that I am not suggesting a mindset that allows us to be too easy on ourselves and allows us to slack. That is far from my message and that is from shaytaan. I am suggesting a mindset of compassion, where if we fail, we pick ourselves up, and try again. A mindset where we honestly scan our lives, see our faults and make commitments to improve and follow through with improving even when we stumble and make mistakes. A mindset where we talk positively to ourselves and strive to be better. We should never let our negativeness, or anybody else's negativeness stop our worthy purpose and affect our lives. Having this compassion, and hope, sets the wheels in motion to a productive life.
A small child who becomes frustrated while trying to learn, is encouraged with kind words, encouragement and compassion. Critically judging and picking on the child, would stifle his ability to learn, yet by being compassionate and encouraging, he blossoms and becomes more enthusiastic and productive. This is the type of gentleness and compassion you should exercise on yourself and others.Give yourself the highest praise for the smallest bit of progress you have made.
As you integrate this new habit in your life, you will see amazing changes that happen. The less you judge others, the less you will judge yourself.
You need to stop being negative and fuel your life with a compassionate persistance. You need to give up negative self talk today, right now.Get off that coach, pick yourself up, your life is waiting. Have hope in Allah, have hope in yourself and switch to a positive , proactive mindset. Then Allah will empower you to reach your goals and help you create for yourself a productive dynamic life.
Remember life is a blank canvas, you have the choice to paint it with beautiful, bright colors; or dead, dull colors. Whatever it is my dear brother/sister, you have the choice!

Dzikrullah
1. Bismillahirrahmanirrahim.
Diucapkan setiap kita mengawali segala perbuatan.
Sungguh Maha Suci Allah Yang Maha Sempurna.
wallahua'lam. :)

The first 10 days!!!
The first ten days of Dhul-Hijjah are the most beloved to Allah.
The Prophet testified to that. He said:
There are no days in which righteous deeds are more beloved to Allah than these ten days. (Bukhaari).
WHAT ACTIVITIES IN THESE 10 DAYS WILL BRING THE REWARD OF JANNAH?
Obviously, Hajj is one of the best deeds that one can do during these ten days. However for those of us who were not invited to His House this year, there are still many, good deeds that one can do and earn the Pleasure of Allah.
Some of these are:
1) Fast all nine days and especially fast the Day of Arafah
The Prophet (PBUH) said:
Anyone who fasts for one day for Allah’s pleasure, Allah will keep his face away from the (Hell) fire for (a distance covered by a journey of) seventy years. (Bukhari, Muslim)
The Prophet (PBUH) used to fast on the ninth day of Dhul-Hijjah and he said:
Fasting the Day of Arafah (ninth Dhul-hijjah) is an expiation for (all the sins of) the previous year and an expiation for (all the sins of) the coming year. (Muslim) .
2) Do a LOT of Dhikr and Takbeer
The Prophet (PBUH) said:
There are no days on which good deeds are greater or more beloved to Allah than on these ten days, so recite much Tahleel (saying Laa ilaaha ill-Allaah), Takbeer (saying Allahu Akbar) and Tahmeed (saying Al-hamdu Lillaah).(Ahmad -Saheeh)
Ibn Umar and Abu Hurayrah used to go out in the marketplace during the first ten days of Dhul-Hijjah, reciting Takbeer, and the people would recite Takbeer when they heard them. (Bukhaari)Takbeer at this time is a Sunnah. So recite it in the masjid, in your home, on the street and every place where it is permitted to remember Allah. Revive the Sunnah that have been virtually forgotten and earn great rewards for doing so..The Prophet said: Whoever revives an aspect of my Sunnah that is forgotten after my death, he will have a reward equivalent to that of the people who follow him, without it detracting in the least from their reward. (Tirmidhi- a hasan hadeeth) Men should recite these phrases out loud, and women should recite them quietly.
3) Stand in Night Prayers: (Tahajud, Qiyam al Layl)
Remember the virtues of spending the night in prayer, and its sweetness in Ramadan? Why not revive this beautiful act of worship during these nights as well? Remember, how in the last third of every night, Allah Almighty calls out to us, His servants: Is there anyone to invoke Me, so that I may respond to his invocation? Is there anyone to ask Me, so that I may grant him his request? Is there anyone seeking My forgiveness, so that I may forgive him? (Bukhaari, Muslim).
Why do we miss this golden opportunity? So, seize the chance NOW and expose yourself to His Divine Generosity and Mercy, ask Him to forgive you and guide you and set things aright. He will surely listen.
4) Make Sincere Repentance.
One of the most important action during these ten days is to repent sincerely to Allah and to give up all kinds of disobedience and sin right away because we do not know when we will die and thus become unable to repent, and also because one evil deed leads to another.
But what does repentance mean?
It means that you come back to Allah and give up all the deeds, open and secret, that He dislikes. that you regret whatever you did in the past, giving it up immediately and be determined never ever, to return to it, and resolve to adhere firmly to the Truth by doing whatever Allah loves.
It is time now to dust off your copy of the Quraan and return to its refuge. Make it a daily habit, using these 10 days the beginning of a strong and beautiful relationship with it. Read it with meaning, reflect on it, understand it, and then implement it in your daily life.Remember that reading one letter of the Quraan earns you ten rewards.
But as for him who repented, believed and did righteous deeds, then he will be among those who are successful. [Al-Qasas 28:67].
5) Come back to the Quraan
It is time now to dust off your copy of the Quraan and return to its refuge. Make it a daily habit, using these 10 days the beginning of a strong and beautiful relationship with it. Read it with meaning, reflect on it, understand it, and then implement it in your daily life.Remember that reading one letter of the Quraan earns you ten rewards.
In this way, reading Surat Al-Fatihah, which doesn’t take more than two minutes, will give you more than one thousand rewards!
This is on ordinary days, so what about these magnificent days! Certainly the reward will be far greater, Insha Allah.
6) Increase ALL the types of good deeds.
If we are unable to go to Hajj this year, we should occupy ourselves in the worship of Allah; pray extra prayers (Nafilah) recite the Quraan. Make Dhikr of Allah, send Salaams on the Prophet, make dua, give charity, honor our parents, uphold ties of kinship, enjoin what is good and forbid what is evil, and add other good deeds and acts of worship during these days.
So whosoever does good equal to the weight of an atom, shall see it; And whosoever does evil equal to the weight of an atom, shall see it.[Al-Zalzalah 99:7-8].
7) Get the reward of Hajj wherever you are:
You may be unable to do Hajj this year, and you may feel sad. However, you can get the reward of it right where you are.The Prophet said:
Whoever prays Fajr Prayer in congregation, and then sits and remembers Allah until the sun rises, then (after a while) prays two rakas, he will gain a reward equal to that of making perfect Hajj and Umrah.[He repeated the word "perfect" thrice.] (At-Tirmidhi)
8) Slaughter an animal and distribute the meat.
Ibn Umar said: The Prophet lived in Madeenah for 10 years and every year he slaughtered an animal. (Ahmad-Saheeh by al-Albaani)
9) Attend Eid prayers
But remember that Eid prayer is a form of worship and we should avoid unislamic behavior (especially) in dress and in etiquette during these times.
10) Thank Allah
One of the best forms of worshipping Allah Subhaanahu wa Taala is to thank Him, deeply, sincerely and continuously.Alhamdulillah, there is much to be gained in these coming days. Hasten to do good deeds and striving hard in worship .And worship your Lord until there comes unto you the certainty (death).[Al-Hijr 15:99

Lets tadabbur!
KELEBIHAN:
KELEBIHAN:
Rasulullah SAW bersabda;

a myriad of different charity that you could do ;)
“Abu Dhar al-Ghafari said:
“The Messenger of Allah (saw) said: ‘Sadaqah is prescribed for every person every day the sun rises.’
I said: ‘O Messenger of Allah, from what do we give sadaqah if we do not possess property?’
He said: ‘The doors of sadaqah are takbir (Allahu Akbar), Subhan Allah, Alhamdulillah, La-ilaha-ilAllah, Astaghfirullah, enjoining good, forbidding evil, removing thorns, bones and stones from the paths of people, guiding the blind, listening to the deaf and dumb until you understand them, guiding a person to his object of need if you know where it is, hurrying with the strength of your legs to one in sorrow who is appealing for help, and supporting the weak with the strength of your arms. These are all the doors of sadaqah.”
Subhanallah. I pray that Allah will guide us all to His righteous path. Amin amin amin.
3rd November 2010, QC summary
Assalamualaikum waramahtullahiwabarakatuh brothers and sisters :)
Since a few have been asking about the QC sessions (it's very intriguing, i know :p), I decided to give a summary of yesterday's session. This might be beneficial to the sisters who weren't able to come, InsyaAllah.
As Kaka JD reminded us, please open your hearts and minds before proceeding.
The agenda was more or else the same as last week's, but slightly more organised (i hope). The session started with the recitation of Al-Fatihah, followed by a short reminder for the sisters to correct their 'niat' as to why we gathered. Other aspects of the session was just complementary to the session so that sisters were able to get to know each other better.
The ayat we looked at was Surah Al-Imran, 187-194. Please refer to your tafsirs :)
Reflections upon it was based on a consensus that knowledge is only beneficial to the believers of Allah for those who have knowledge of Allah are those who will truly appreciate our nikmat and rezeki. Why should we need further proof of Allah's existence when we can just look at our surroundings, the earth, the sea, the sky. How wonderful and magnificent is Allah's creation? Surely science gives us hard evidence about the condensation of clouds, the photosynthesis in plants but why do we not ponder as to why something so simple could make a huge difference to the existence of humanity and civilisation? SubhanAllah. everything created by Allah, surely has it's benefits.
Dhikir was also one of the topics we slightly touched with regards to the ayat. 'Verily in the rememberance of Allah, do hearts find rest.'- Surah Ra'ad; 28
Technology, yet again, has never failed to be of great use to improve our imagination and understanding. A short video was shared with the great soundtrack of Maher Zain's 'Open your eyes' which made an even more transparent message in relation to the ayat.
Continuing from that discussion, a sister shared an asbabul nuzul (the reason why the surah/ayat was descended) This week's session was centred on Surah Al-Kafirun which reinforced our belief that Allah knows everything, even what is in our hearts, even if we do not know ourselves. Subhanallah.
To end the session, I asked the sisters to write a quote or advise and randomly drew out another sister's quote that was to serve as a reminder to yourself.
Alhamdullilah alhamdullilah alhamdullilah :)
Lastly, Astaghfirullah, I would like to apologize if there were instances of confusion and disagreement. All good comes from Allah and the bad comes from myself.
Kind Regards.

Manners please!
"Can you press for me level 7...
"Sure!" Saya membalas, sambil jari menekan butang di lif.
"Cheers!" Dia membalas.
Dalam satu kejadian lain,
"Excuse me, can you take that for me. Please.." Pinta seorang makcik.
"Which one? This one?"
"Yup. Thank you so much, my love!" Oh, hati berbunga, kerana dipanggil 'love'!Sweet lah makcik ni~
"Mimi, ambil kan buku atas meja," Saya berhenti sekejap.
"Mimi, buka pintu rumah," Nadanya biasa sahaja. Tiada nada marah, mahupun mengarah. Saya diam.
"Ijan, perasan tak sesetengah orang ni suka 'memerintah'," Saya memulakan bicara.
"Macam mana?", Dia menyoal untuk mengetahui.
"Kita selalu perasan, kawan-kawan kita jarang nak guna perkataan 'tolong'. Terutama apabila mahukan orang lain membuat sesuatu untuknya. Semua pun nak beri arahan,"
Bukankah tujuannya mahu meminta 'tolong'?
"Eh, dah lah nak minta tolong orang. Kemudian nak mengarah pula."
Dikatakannya, "University."Seperti biasa, mukanya sentiasa tersenyum, sambil tangan menghulur syiling bernilai NZD1.50. Pakcik tersebut berkata, "Sorry?" Sambil air mukanya berubah.
Rakan saya menyebut lagi, "University."
Lantas, Allah SWT datangkan pengajarannya. Rakan saya berkata, "Mesti sebab kita tak guna perkataan 'please'.
Kalau tak, takkan lah pakcik tu kata 'rude!' tiba-tiba."
Astaghfirullahal'azim.
Marah tiada, tapi terkejut.
Manners are not born with us, they are acquired.

Erti hidup pada memberi !
Assalamualaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh :D
Oh it's charity week! As far as we are aware, alhamdulillah charity week is now back in town!!! This is gooooood news innit? It's our chance to give. It's the chance to bersihkan our harta harta itu with keberkatan. It's another chance to make others smile! It's oneof the sunnah!
It's soooooo beautiful, Rasulullah SAW is most famous for this. Don't you know? Especially in the month of Ramadhan, where in this one hadith, Rasulullah SAW will be more pemurah than a blowing wind. Subhanallah! Even removing one bit of ranting kayu that blocks people's way is another charity.
So here you go, Warwick ISOC has managed to arrange this kind of thing for a charity week!
Write it down in your diary! :D This ''love letter'' from Warwick ISOC:

Make sure we don't miss this chance. Oh another sharing: Sedeqah boleh menghindarkan su'ul khotimah. What's su'ul khotimah? Kesudahan yang tidak baik. Don't we just love it to meet Allah in our fitrah? As someone who has faith? To meet Allah in the best way possible. Insha Allah.Hayati liriknya. Even a smile brothers and sisters.
