About 1400 years ago, Rasulullah (pbuh) has introduced the importance of personal hygiene to the entire World. Before the invention of the toothbrush (inspired by the Miswak), He (pbuh) has used an effective way to keep the mouth and teeth clean. Subhanallah.
Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said, “Had I not thought it difficult for my Ummah, I would have commanded them to use the Miswak (tooth-stick) before every Salat.”
[Al-Bukhari and Muslim].
This Hadith shows that using Miswak is an admirable act. Every Muslim should make it a routine to use it as frequently as possible especially before performing prayers.
Imagine how foul or breaths might smell like if He (pbuh) had not introduced the cleaning of the teeth using Miswak. MashaAllah…we should be thankful to Rasulullah (pbuh) for his actions and ideas that has made many of our lives better today. Indeed, He (pbuh) is rahmatan lil ‘alamin (Mercy for the entire universe).
