Press forward or fall behind?

"To any of you that chooses to press forward, or to follow behind" (Surah at-Mudathir, Chapter 74, Verse 37)

Scholars have looked into this verse and commented how a person has only two modes in life: either he/she is advancing and making progress (in any area of his/her life) OR he/she is falling behind.

Each day you're either moving forward towards your goals (Dunya or Akhira) or falling behind. There's no such thing as a "neutral" position.

This is a very important concept that should encourage you to be constantly productive, because the moment you stop being productive, the moment you say "this is enough, I'm going to relax here" that's when you'll start to fall behind. For an example, imagine a student who studies very hard throughout the year and 2 months before the exam, he says to himself, "I've done enough studying, I don't need to study or revise anymore" guess what? He'll immediately fall behind and might even fail his exams.

Always stay productive and don't give up in working hard in order not to fall behind.
