Announcement Halal Foods around UNI

Assalamualaikum brothers and sisters =D

Hope you read this in the best of health and iman. I was informed that the CHICKEN and LAMB BURGER at the bake & eat in Costcutter to be halal. BUT NOT THE BEEF.

3 times a day, 365 days a year– it cannot be escaped! But as a Muslim at university, is our only choice of food on campus restricted to the vegetarian option? Fear not, for the answer is no! Following a successful ongoing Halal food campaign, the Union, the University and even Cost-Cutter have taken positive steps to introducing Halal products at their outlets.
Below is a list of where Halal food can be found on campus. However please not that this list is not exhaustive, and its contents are subject to change at any time without prior notice. Hence we advise all members to ask at the outlet before purchasing any meal regarding its Halal status. The ISoc website will be regularly updated and emails will be sent to membership contingent to any changes in the Halal food situation on campus.
Costcutters
Your local supermarket on campus! Costcutters offers a wide variety of halal sandwiches, ready meals and other snacks and food as well as vegetarian options. All praise be to Allah, this year the ISOC also managed to request Costcutter to sell fresh halal meat on its store on campus.
Bread Oven
A new Union food outlet which serves light beverages, including sandwiches and baguettes. ALL of the chicken served by Bread Oven is halal.
Xanana
A great port of call for light refreshments, full meals and a range of desserts. ALL of Xanana’s chicken and lamb is halal, but NOT the beef. Dont forget to check the H sign on the menu.
Please note that NONE of the University’s cafes serves halal food. Only the Union outlets provide halal food on campus.
As mentioned, this information may change, so please always remain careful, look out for signs at the outlets and ask the staff BEFORE buying anything. Also look out for ISoc emails as we will try our best to keep you updated Insha’Allah.
TESCO
Alhamdulillah, starting from last year, Tesco has offered fresh halal meat, namely chicken and lamb at its Cannon Park store. If you are lucky enough, you will even get to buy halal sausages, burgers and samosas.
ISOC FOLESHILL TRIPS
The ISoc organises frequent trips to Foleshill, Coventry. The main purpose is for members to purchase a supply of fresh Halal meat along with other groceries. More information about such trips will be sent via email. So why waste time going to Tesco’s when you have a chauffer driven van ready for you?
For more information on halal food on campus, please contact Isoc Welfare Officers Zeeshan.

Harap maklum.

"Hai manusia! Makanlah dari apa-apa yang ada di bumi ini yang halal dan baik, dan jangan kamu mengikuti jejak syaitan karena sesungguhnya syaitan itu musuh yang terang-terangan bagi kamu." (al-Baqarah: 168)

Rasulullah SAW pernah bersabda:

Tidak akan masuk surga siapa saja yang dagingnya tumbuh dari makanan  yang haram. Neraka lebih utama untuknya. (HR Ahmad).
